Make an impact working on the web platform of Switzerland's largest financial newspaper, fuw.ch, offering a great market data site and various other services.

Become part of a small, motivated team of developers working closely with Tamedia's broader software engineering team. Help to improve existing solutions and shape our future architecture.

We are looking for a full-stack engineer who brings the following:

• Experience with PHP and JavaScript to support our existing solutions.
• Broad knowledge of React, Node.js and/or TypeScript to continuously innovate and adapt FuW solutions.
• Deep understanding of the full stack: from the browser and CSS on one end, to REST APIs and databases on the other.
• A good understanding of UX design and the ability to translate it into code.
• A desire to share your expertise and mentor other team members.
• An ability to engage with business stakeholders, designers and software engineers from other teams, to jointly craft the best solutions possible

About the product

The news platform fuw.ch will be migrated from a Wordpress system to Tamedia's proprietary journalistic CMS in 2022. However, many features, like market data systems and various stock market charts, are unique to FuW and will remain outside the core CMS platform.

These products run on PHP, MySQL and Redis. The code is hosted on GitLab, from where we deploy to the production servers. In the long term, we plan to move these tools to the modern tech stack based on React, Node.js, and MongoDB.

About the team

The FuW tech team consists of three developers. They are part of the larger Tamedia tech organization, which includes employees across Switzerland and Belgrade. Communication within the team and with other stakeholders is mainly in English. German is a big plus, as "Finanz und Wirtschaft" is a German-language publication. Your place of work is in the heart of Zurich and wherever you work best – you will have the possibility of working partially remotely.
